I like the theory that says it’s good that Ruby is getting much of the hype these days… First Python had to compete with all the buzz about Perl, then Java, then PHP, now Ruby. Yet Python keeps trucking along. If the masses flock to Ruby (from PHP and Java) and the better hackers stick with Python, it’ll increase the chances that years from now, people will look at all the Ruby code in the world and comment on how most of it totally sucks… like they say about Perl, Java, and PHP code today.
P.S. Yes, I’m kidding. :-)
